Hmmm, Intersting. I feel the exact opposite. Shaun was the better film for me. Hot Fuzz was funny, but in my book, it was no Shaun Of The Dead.

It is that I am reserving judgement for when I do see it, and I hope that it does not. So for now I do not go by what the actors are saying.

I started out saying the same thing and I agree that you have to consider the source. For some reason though, I just feel a certain degree of excitement and pride coming from all those involved so I'm begining to think that it goes a bit beyond 'I wouldn't star in/write/direct a film that I didn't think was good'. Either they're all incredibly hypnotized, all taking the same drugs, or we are all in for something awesome.

Count me in for liking SHAUN more than HOT FUZZ, though I still enjoyed the latter.

As for actors/crew hyping a movie of theirs for future paychecks: not very often, at least if they want to retain any credibility with their fans. An actor he keeps touting his films as fantastic despite them being crap would quickly look like a fool about their own work and that of others.

More often, actors in a 'troubled' film either say little about it or speak very diplomatically about the project. If there is ONE cast member from TREK who would be hard to impress with a TREK film, it would be Pegg since he's such a big fan already. I don't any way he would, in effect, lie about how great this film is to other fans or to himself just to promote it -- and he certainly would be touting it so enthusiastically 9 months ahead of release when he hasn't even seen the finished film.

Pegg is nuts about this film based on the MATERIAL he worked with, not the polished, effects-laden final product -- and like Nimoy's early blessings of the material alone, this should all be good signs for us fans.

Obviously, I'm a huge Pegg fan. I think that he, Pine and Quinto are going to be the break-out stars in this film.

Actually, didn't Pierce Brosnan say something along those lines for his second Bond film?

And the director of 'Babylon AD' has said as much for his film.

And Sean Connery bagged out 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' to the extent that he gave up acting.

So... it's not unprecendented.
