Sorry to hear about the loss of Mr Frodo.

One of the features of human life is we tend to outlive our pets, I have had lots of cats thru the years and grieve when I lose one, usually to old age.

I always hold that one of the reasons pet owners are different than parents (despite the many comparisons of the two functions) is that pet owners engage to care for and love their pet as a family member knowing full well that they will outlive the pet. That is rarely the case for those entering parenthood (though, sometimes it is and I cannot sing the praises of people who survive that enough).

It's a different type of love when you enter already knowing you will feel grief.

Being both saddens me sometimes. you really don't really think about loosing them when you get them, but it hits you down the line.

That does suck. Used to have pet rats, excellent pets, but sadly they only live 2-3 years.

Man, you have some bad luck. I'm very sorry to hear. I remember when I came home and Max, our 12 year old yellow labrador, was gone. We put him down.

Well, I suppose this is an excuse to go guinea pig shopping? Happy thoughts?

well my luck got worse, the second died on the 4th, I tried everything in my power to heal him but did not work. 8 days after the first died I got a third, I figured the other one did not show signs of sickness, 3 days latter he got sick. The Thierd one has not gotten sick, I never put them togetter, so I hope that was enough to avoid anything. The Vet was not sure what killed the others, could have been a virus or even the food. Just keeping my fingers crossed so this one does not get sick
