It was boredom.
Really Boring. I'll watch for 4 four weeks and see what's going on. Pilots are hard to propperly...Not all can be like Atlantis.

Robert Carlyle stole my haircut. :O

It wasn't quite what I expected, but, it was well worth watching IMHO. Looking forward to the rest of the series... just hoping the ratings don't consign it to cancellation before it gets a chance to get going. :/

It was pretty much what I had expected so I'm not disappointed in that regard but I know this is one Stargate I won't be watching on a regular basis. I didn't like BSG at all and this seems very close in style. I just can't get into those uber dark sci-fi shows, they're just too depressing. I like to have a healthy dose of humor in my sci-fi, which clearly SGU does not have.

I realize this was just the pilot but I barely managed to watch all of it, which is not a good sign... I remember not being all that impressed with the Altantis pilot either but at least it was good enough to bring me back to the show the following week. Don't think it's gonna happen witih SGU.

What rock have you been hiding under?
Dude SG-1 was the 10 year TV series born out of the original Stargate movie. Richard Dean "McGyver" Anderson played Col. O'Neal, with Amanda Tapping as Maj. Samantha Carter, along with Daniel Jackson, and Teal'c, a Jaffar who joins forces with them.

Here's the link with a complete rundown.

Stargate Atlantis takes place in the Pegasus Galaxy. The Stargate team discovers an "Ancients" facility and restores it to battle the Wraith, a vampiric race that sees the humans as a food source.

Here's the link for the rundown on this.

Educate yourself. These are some really great series. The stargate allows for a wide variety of story telling without lots of "starship, and hardware"

Dude, Atlantis aired its last episode Jan. 9, 2009. The city/station made the hyperspace jump from the Pegasus Galaxy to earth to come to Earth's defense against a Wraith battlefleet. Atlantis made a emergency landing in San Francisco Bay. And burnt out its engines. It sits cloaked in the bay. End of Story

Well, I saw SGU and I thought afterwards: "That wasn't too bad!''

Mainly because of Robert Carslyle, it has to be said. He was quite good, and I felt that that made up for the annoying American accents! (I am not saying that all American accents are annoying, only the annoying ones are annoying! Which is not most of them.)

I'm presently watching SG1 2nd season.

I missed a lot on tv.

I think I saw all Atlantis now.

The next episode of SGU should be a real good start
for the new series.

I only liked about 30% of the pilot, but think I'll enjoy
the show.

I like Robert Carslyle and David Blue so far, need to see more
of the others.

Carslyle certainly had the most interesting character. As for development, he more than anyone else, seemed the most flushed out. Also they seem to be keeping Lou Diamond Phillips under wraps in the pilot. He was the military commander of the mission but you only saw him in the alpha site scenes. Should be interesting to see what happens with him in the next few episodes.

Eli was annoying as hell though. What really pissed me off about that guy is he's sitting there being exposed to all this fantastic space 'stuff' if you will, and he looks bored. And other than that, he's just annoying and not in the good Rodney McKay way.

Well, it all can't be Atlantis I guess.
