Long story short, belly buttons were taboo on TV in the 60's, or really showing the mid drift on a woman.

As others have said, Theis showed parts the censors never mentioned.

Also the bellt buton thing got parodies in GR's 1973 Genesis II pilot when Mariette Hartley was showm with 2 belly buttons, the code had been changed by then.

There's a few stories of things "poping out" of that outfit during shooting.

I bet. I read that stuations like those in part contributed to Shatner's divorce from his first wife. Also why Jeffrey Hunter's wife didn't want him back in the series (that and more money, of course).

Well Hunter's wife thought Sci Fi was "beneath" him.

I am sure that and time he did more than act with his female co stars helped finsh off his first marrige. Him and GR were both horndogs, it was one of the things they had in common.

All hot (but, is there such a thing as a non-hot Trek girl?)

But as far as Trek and/or Kirk babes go, I gotta always go with Andrea Dromm as Yeo Smith as the hottest Trek babe, tied only by Yvonne Craig as Marta.

I think Susan Oliver did a better acting job as an Orion.

Indeed, she was the better actor IMO, and I love Susan as Vina, but I wasn't referring to her acting.

She is hot nonetheless.
