Right now, I actually feel pretty good. I consider myself pretty hardcore in that I have been in uniform in my past, I have lots of props and toys that I just love to hold and fantasize about, and I'm pretty familiar with lines from the shows and movies and I'm comfortable discussing plots, storylines and some of the "Expanced Universe" (oh wait, that's Star Wars terminology?) but I feel very strongly about the franchise representing a turning point in our culture and as an optomistic but serious view of what we could be in centuries ahead. That having been said, I am very excited about this project. I am hopeful that it will be handled well both with giving proper respect to the original cast and the original concepts and also regarding the telling of a story that will capture new fans. I always believed that TOS was the best of the bunch so I am excited to see how the prequel theory will pan out. The more I hear about how proud the individuals involved are of their new creation, the more optomistic I become, and the more I can't wait to see what they've done.
OK, a bit overstated, but that's how I feel. I also feel hungry now.

How do I feel?
I find the question well....illogical. My feelings have little relevance regarding the fact that JJ Abrams and Paramount are making a new Trek movie with a re-cast TOS crew. However, I do find the entire project quite...fascinating >:-I |

Cheerleading season has started for my daughter so the question "how do you feel?" makes me think
We feel good! Oh, we feel so good! We feel like turning around. We feel like touching the ground. We feel like doing a jump and PUMPING IT UP! We feel good! Oh, we feel so good, Uh, double Uh, uh, triple Uh, uh, uh...like a cheerleader should.... Anyway....I'm more excited than I've been in years. As to the recasting....to me, that says the characters have become iconic....they are no longer "the actors" they are "the characters". The first dude to play Hamlet doesn't do it anymore and ya know what? That's a good thing.

Okay, I am certainly not a hardcore trekkie, but as an intense casual fan, I believe that although it will be painful to watch for the first few scenes, I believe that an excellent movie, as I am expecting from it, will cover all of that. I think that if we make concessions on this movie, the sequel will be able to go more "hardcore" with Trek, after the first established a wider fanbase.
(not food concessions, although those are good too) |
