Aliens like the Melkotians or the Tholians were fascinating because we only saw a glimpse of them so they remained mysterious (for over 30 years concerning the Tholians until ENT showed us their entire body).
I don't believe that I compared them to reptiles. I said they were reptillian in appearance. Just like the creatures I described.

I did not refer to your post, which had a nice picture by the way, otherwise I would have used the QUOTE function
I only wanted to ponit out that I did not buy the Gorn, unlike the more exotic aliens, since I compared him automatically to reptiles. Then you ask yourself automatically such questions as, why does he move so slowly, is it cold on this planet? Then I thought, gee, that actor cannot move fast with that suit on and he probably can't see anything.
This problem does not occur with exotic aliens because you cannot compare them to anything and thus they can e.g. move slowly like the Excalbians without damaging the illusion as in the Gorn's case for me.

Oh, sorry about that then. I just thought that you meant me because I was the one who mentioned those reptillian aliens. And thanks for saying that about the picture!

Now, if we want to expand beyond jut TOS, I think my favorite of ALL the Trek aliens have to be the insectoid Xindi. (In fact, they are the ONLY thing about the Xindi story arc that I found interesting.) Had Berman just taken those aliens, and built them into the new Klingons, I think he would have had something!

I just read a cute little fan fic about the Gorn....it was based on the idea that, as KIRK SAID, the Gorn were repitillian....Kirk stumbled upon the Gorn dude doing what any good reptile would do on a sunny day in a dessert environment: curl up on a rock and soak up the sun.

Needless to say, in this fic, it wasn't much of a fight.....

For TOS, the Tholians, the Andorians, and the Tellarites.
