Default Does anyone else pop in a movie to fall asleep to?

This is a question more about how many folks actually do pop in a movie in their DVD player or VCR when they go to bed at night.

This is not a question about "what movie do you find so boring that it puts you to sleep?"

Some folks like to pop in a movie to have some kind of background noise to listen to as they go off to dream land.

Me, I do it for a few reasons:

1. Yeah, I like low volume background noise when I go to sleep. Not total silence....but not a lot of noise either. A good movie at low volume is perfect. (Or a movie soundtrack )

2. Total silence sometimes allows my mind to drift to thoughts that I don't wish to entertain during my descent to dormancy. A bad conversation with someone earlier in the day. The world situation. The Exorcist. Yikes!!!

3. I like to shut my eyes, and imagine the movie in my head. The advantage....sometimes I can envision my favorite starting scenes from different angles....use my imagination and tire out my mind so I drop right off.

The advantage of popping a movie in a DVD player is that you can have the movie play over and over. This works for me in the sense that if I have to get up in the middle of the night, I don't have to hit any additional buttons to get the movie to start playing again....and I drop right back off.

What qualifies as a good movie for myself to go to sleep by?
-A movie with a relatively serene opening....not action heavy.
-If a movie does open with an action beat, then there's good soundtrack music to inspire my redesign of the scene in my head.
-A LONG movie.

What qualifies as a bad movie?
THE EXORCIST!

My favorite movies to pop in the DVD for beddy bye (in no particular order) :
1. Star Trek The Motion Picture
2. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
3. Star Trek Nemesis
4. The Empire Strikes Back
5. Return of the Jedi
6. The Phantom Menace
7. Attack of the Clones
8. Revenge of the Sith
9. Any Harry Potter movie
10. Rob Roy
11. Braveheart
12. DUNE (any version)
13. Tron
14. The Black Hole

So, anybody else have this particular sleep ritual?
