A friend of mine forwarded the below link regarding the development
of a robotic mule called 'Big Dog.' Check the enclosed vid where the robot
was able to maintain its balance after being kicked and on a slippery surface.

While it's top speed is 4 mph and it's the size of a large dog one may consider
would the future could bring....?

My goodness! Thats absolutely amazing! Unbelievable! What an improvement, compared to every other robot with legs I have seen so far. This is like being used to an old Ford T and now getting to see a Formula 1 racing car from the 1990ies.

Yes, it's impressive... but building the bodies is nothing compared to building the brain... I'll be worried when it decides to sit down, and be stubborn, like a real mule... LOL

You might also take a look at ATLAS... a walking platform that's the prototype for probes/transporters for future lunar and Mars missions. Kinda like this, but capable of carrying a Nissan Versa on it's back.
