Default Deathrace-The Remake

I have very mixed emotions over this retelling of the 1975 Classic Deathrace 2000

Are we trading fun and camp with David Carradine and Sly Stalone

For Seriousness and Jason Stathom?

If it offers decent action done with actual cars and not CGI replicas then it might be a fun couple of hours!

Yeah, but if it doesn't have the black humor, and the political satire... what's the point?!

Camp just doesn't seem to go over well in the new millenium.

The original was... special. I'm not sure the feel and true spirit can be recaptured in a re-make. It would almost be like remaking Rocky Horror.

My first thought was, "No one would ever be so gauche as to try," but then I remembered we're talking about Hollywood. Sigh.

Just because Jason Statham is in it doesn't mean that won't be present! I get what you mean though. Probably will be watered down, they usually are when remade nowadays.

Was my reaction too, then I heard about this film who's inital working title was Daethrace 3000.
Fan's got a point alot of the black humor and satire will be missing I am sure.

What made Deathrace 2000 work was the cartoonish violence, it was almost like a WB Cartoon with the violence and humor.

I have a feeling this will ruin the film.
