Well there is the danger of spoilers. You read everything there is to read about a project and all that is left is the images. And then they release the novelization like 1-2 weeks before the film's premiere and you are really really tempted to find out what happens before standing in line for hours waiting for your ticket to the theater. And if you bring the novelization with you to theater while you wait in said line - forget 'bout it.

I usually buy the novelization ahead of time and put it on a shelf unread until I've seen the film because I know I'm going to see it opening night anyway. Then I look for deeper explanations of what I just saw.

If they ever release the script I am not going there. Movie scripts read terribly anyway and it is the performances that bring the material off the page (frankly I don't know how the actors do it so well).

As for this post - most of it is fun speculation by all us fans. And we do our best to police ourselves with spoiler tags to give everyone the chance to choose to between reading the spoiler or passing.

Sometimes, you can tell where spoilers are lurking. And when you think you see one about to pop up it's head--

"Submitted for your approval. A Star Trek fan who cannot leave a forum on a movie not to be released for almost a year. As hard as he tries, he stays put. We call this litle escapade "Trek Without End", and indeed it doesn't end...in the Twilight Zone."

I think I want to know about the movie ahead of time, but more so technical things, actors, sets, changes from TOS, and that kind of stuff. I don't want to know the entire plot, lines, or anything that would truly ruin the air of experience. I just won't go out searching for spoilers, and most likely I won't have to worry.
