Over the weekend at Comic Con, it was announced that the same producer who has brought us The Dark Knight, has now been given the green light to start work on his next project: DOC SAVAGE... Okay, this is news that is sending my heart soaring. I've read all of those books by Ken Robeson, have a custom Doc Savage belt buckle, and the Bama poster, and... (well you get the idea) I've always felt the George Pal production was cute, but not really what Doc was all about... They played him in a campy "Adam West" Batman style. This could be an attempt to do the character in the pure, epic adventure mode, similar to the original Raiders of the Lost Ark... I'm sooo hyped right now.

I agree, it's about time this character was re-introduced to the public at large. Unfortunately, it's been so long since anyone but hardcore fans have heard of the man of bronze, a feature film about him isn't likely to draw much of a crowd. I do however, wish the production company the best of luck trying to get this one right. They've got their job cut out for them.

Hmm wonder what a modern Doc would look like and act like?

Let's hope they keep it to pre WWII, Zard. Updating the Doc would be like having Indy Jones in the 70's... it just wouldn't "work."
He kept his HQ on the 89th floor of the ESB, when that building was still the tallest in the world... He had a "Fortress of Solitude" in the arctic, long before that johnny come lately Superman ever did... He was the first superhero to "brand" everything he worked on. In some ways, he was the hero who established the "Scooby Doo" plot: strange events leading the characters on a mystery, only to be revealed as some kind of scientific or hoax explanation... He was a hero who had the exact same problem as Dr. Who: he was incredibly smart, and had the body of a demi-god, but was at a total loss when it came to girls... Long before Shatner was tearing his shirts up on Trek... there was Doc Savage.

Doc only fits in the 30's. He's just not a 21st century guy. We don't act like that anymore. It's a shame that we don't, it's a pity that we don't.
