Doesn't Bucky have seizures? I'd be concerned that there's an environmental cause since you've had two dogs who had seizures. Is there lead based paint that the dog(s) have been chewing on? Is someone spraying a particularly harsh poison on the garden? Is the pool water being over treated? Questions like that should be asked because...I've got to tell you, I'm on my 9th and 10th dogs right now and while there have been a lot of health issues, none has ever had a seizure....

No! it's not that. Max was just getting old - he didn't have full blown seizures, just tremors, and Bucky's seizures are caused by genetics.

Does the person who told you Bucky's seizures were "genetic" know that you had another dog who had "tremors"?

Again...I've had old dogs. All the dauchshunds I had as a child lived to be over 14, one lived to be 20. None had tremors. I've taken one pug to 14, one to 17 with nary a tremor between them....

(we should probably be careful..."tremors" and "seizures" might be suggestive of "old age" and therefore, "ageism" and that would be controversial! )

I want a dachshaund named Scooter! that's what I'm getting when I move out! Dad doesn't want a dachshaund for hunting... understandable.

Dachshunds are, in fact, hunting dogs. That's what they were bred for. They are badger hounds. They chase the badger into the hole, then the owner pulls the dog out by the tail and puts the gun into the hole, kills the badger. That's the reason they are shaped the way they are...their heads are supposed to be "at the badger barking" while their tails are supposed to be out of the hole, waiting for their owner (and, their tails are thick and long so they are good for pulling!).

I know they're great for hunting in that sense, but Dad likes a retriever, like Bucky. He does a lot of duck, goose, and pheasant hunting.
