Default TOS on HD DVD

What do you think of the Star Trek Season One on HD DVD? I've got them and the picture quality and sound quality (love the intro theme and the whoosing Enterprise) are just amazing. However, I'm sure many don't approve of the changes made with the remastered episodes. Will you get TOS in HD DVD?

When I get a Blu-Ray player and TOS-R is rereleased on BD, then sure, I'll buy.

I've wondered about that. Warners abandoned HD DVD and it looks like Blu-ray is triumphant, but Paramount has been serious so far about HD-DVD exclusive on Star Trek.

Paramount's last statement about the format wars was that their "current plan" was to stick with HD DVD. Though apparently there's a clause in their and Universal's contracts (the only two left on HD DVD) that allows them to bail in the event of Warners' defection.

Probably won't buy a HD DVD player now, since the war is pretty much over... Unless I buy one for my Xbox 360 for any reason.

In my opinion, they aren't making enough changes to warrant me spending the money for the HD DVD's. I wish they would do more, go more all out. But a lot of the Remastered project is just too half-hearted.

For reviews, I've gotten both Blu-ray and a less expensive (but 3rd gen) HD-DVD player, and I've seen several of the Remastered TOS episodes which look good even at broadcast quality. Whether the HD format survives or not, I will be getting the set soon to view them directly off the disc. If the following two seasons end up on Blu, I'll follow up in that format. Having grown up on the 'analog' versions of TOS all my life, I'm enjoying the remasters very much for the most part.

If Paramount will release TOS Remastered on Blu-Ray I will buy it but if not I'll enjoy what I have. I will not go HD-DVD.

Default hd dvd

I have owned the entire series on vhs, and the first round of dvds (the orange cases) and bought the hd dvd player just to watch the remastered shows. I think the remastered stuff just blows away the old crap. Though I do wish they would have done more with the digital effects, But I think they stopped where they did to keep the purists from losing their minds. the cleaned up images, color correction and new ship shots have made it well worth the money for me.
