Post MORE JJ Abrams On XI

This time He's Talking About Simon Pegg!

From trekmovie.com

UPDATE: Abrams on Pegg

Another quote from JJ from TCA, this time on Simon Pegg, the new Scotty.
"Simon is absolute genius in [Star Trek]. He was a lot of fun to work with".

I would have been shocked if he had said anything else.

Didn't the producers of Superman IV once say, "Yeah, we knew all along it's a piece of crap but what the hell, we knew we were getting paid anyway. We were never excited about doing it from the get-go but what's pride got to do with it anyway?"

Would have been nice if they had, it would have explained a lot. So, I don't think we've ever, nor will we ever hear anything from JJ that isn't encouraging. We the fans will be the true judges.

Please, Tomcat, I'm not knocking your enthusiasm in any way. I just have a fear of overhype especially when it comes from the film's producer.

JJ also happens to be the film's director. And I can easily imagine that working with Simon Pegg is a ton of fun to work with, all evidence from previous films to support it (not to mention this is the 2nd time JJ's worked with Pegg).

I realise that saying they all got along swimmingly is part of the job: for ST 11 I'm inclined to believe them: they all seem very comfortable together (not just the actors). Not all joy every moment of course, but a reasonable approximation of liking each other and getting one well.

Also IMO looking at the range of stuff Pegg's done and the interviews I've seen with him - he comes across as a very clever and funny man, who doesn't take himself too seriously.

The bit with ZQ cracking up at Pegg's "Can I have a towel" was one of my favourite bits of the gag reel. I'd read an interview with ZQ saying he'd had trouble with it, I'm looking foward to seeing it HQ.
