Default From IDW's Alien Spotlight - Vulcans

"This crew exempilfies the best of what Starfleet represents. We are a piece in a long-term plan to make the universe a better place. But part of me believes Spock will become a bigger piece to it all. Part of me thinks we are more the start of his journey than he is the start of ours. It's why I invited him aboard. It's what I first saw in him, and I will make sure to never forget it again." - Christopher Pike

I was surprised by the Alien Spotlight comics! It's not the action-filled shoot-to-kill stuff one might expect. And the story about Vulcans is most intriguing because it features Spock beginning his service on the ship!
I also highly recommend the Gorn story. These two represent the high values of Gene's vision.

Are they novels? To be honest, I've never read a ST novel. Strange, I know. The quote from Pike is awesome.

Sorry, I should have included a link... it's not a novel, but a comic.
