I remember how exciting it was when he got on this show, I think that's what made me really start watching it.

Jimmy looked good. That was back in 1978 so he was also working on ST:TMP. Actors love keeping busy.

Yeah, I loved that show. It was great seeing Jimmy on the first season, too. Then he left to go work on STTMP. I have to say, I liked his successor, Commander Stone as well. He was much more "by the book" and hardnosed.
Ya know, waxing tangential for a moment....Jason of Star Command was really a kick a** show for a Saturday morning live action series. It had the most elaborate (and expensive) FX for a kids' series for its time....and some of it was done by Star Wars veterans. (Some of the effects could even stand up to the FX used on the original Battlestar Galactica.) The stories were even cool, even if they were a slightish kiddified, at least during the first season, when it was but a 15 minute segment of the compilation series Tarzan and the Super Seven. When it went into its second season, I rather liked how it took a more serious turn. I thought it was cool in the first episode of the second season, when Jason is confronted by Commander Stone, and Jason says: "But you should know, sir, I am not officially under the jurisdiction of Star Command." That wasn't something you typically saw or heard on a seventies kids' show. And then, there's Dragos. Sid Haig played that role with such gusto...and he actually made (sometimes) for a pretty menacing bad guy. You could almost see Sid wanting to take Dragos, and make him even more intense than they probably could allow for a kids' show back then....but he did well within his limitations. And during the first season, there was even a very brief explanation as to who Dragos was, and why he became the way he was. I wish that was something they would've explored in the second season. (He was the Prime Minister of Klavu, serving the king of that planet, but he had his own designs for rule.) The Starfire. Now there was a cool craft. I mean, I liked the Seekers from Space Academy (which got a rare cameo on JoSC), but the Starfires just looked sleeker, and deadlier (which they were). And then, it had a seperable nose section which could serve as both lifeboat (and to a smaller degree, a shuttle). Heh, how about that, eh? A shuttle for a shuttle class ship? LOL! Oh, and the female uniforms....very likable. Miniskirts and go-go boots. Hell, yeah, baby. Yep, JoSC was probably my favorite Saturday morning show back then. JoSC on Saturday mornings....Battlestar Galactica Sunday nights. ![]() Ah, the memories of youth....so long ago.
