I think Number One could come under the heading of an easter egg. Casually tossed off commment-- "Thank you, Number One, that will be all"-- which doesn't affect the story but make us all squeeee with delight.

Any line like that would be cool.

I'd think Number One should appear (if briefly), be a woman, but perhaps not the half-Vulcan that she was in the pilot, character-wise. A solid second-in-command officer would be enough to honor the intention of the original character without duplicating it 100%. But a must to appear, even if in a short 'easter egg' capacity -- I'd hope a little more than that, though.

Given who they cast as Pike, I don't think his role is a tiny walk-on... so I doubt his Number One would be a mere one-liner. We'll see.

I do want to see a strong Number One if she is presented. Majel conveyed that in her portrayal.

Not as much as I would like, but hey I'm partial to the dream of this fist movie at least being mostly about my man Chris Pike.

Hey, a feller can dream right?

Wasn't there a proto-Sulu character too? I seem to remember an Asian guy inthe transporter room.
