Post Question on new FX on movies

I have a question that I really wanted to ask. I have my opinion on it and I wanted to see if anyone shares my idea. When it comes down to the Trek movies 1 – 6 who would like to see all the special effects redone. For example Wrath of Khan, I would like to see more update battle, space etc. Trek V, do it the right way it should have been.
My favorite Undiscovered Country just totally redo with other views of the ships and expand the battle at the end.>>

Perosnally, I get so tired of everybody wanting to "imporve" classic films with CGI, ect.

The only time I ever 100% agreed with tampering was with TMP-DC, becuase Wise allways said the film was not in final form, ansd then they did nothing that hadn't been planned. They even macthed film grain in the CGI scenes so it wouldn't look out of place.

I have no objection to films being digitized, or cleaned up, or restored to original condition. I am also cool with cleaning up the soundtrack, and making it 5.1.

The only reason they re-did the effects on TOS was because they wouldn't be able to market the films on HD or Blu-Ray otherwise. The special effects on most of the movies hold up just fine all on their own, thanks.

V needs a new movie, not only some added scenes

That, and they couldn't restore the film used in the effects filming process to HD standards, due to differences in the ways the effects were filmed. Had they been able to do so, they would not have redone the effects at all.

And, except for the "cartoonish" looking warp jump in TMP, the lines you can see around the probe in TVH and all of TFF, the movie effects were pretty good.

See...I could see cleaning things up a bit. But I wouldn't want them redone.

Apart from what Zardoz said, if it's part of a project to restore a film to the way it was originally intended before either time, budget, studio or technology limitations prevented it, I'm not a fan of tampering with past films to suit the present. To me it's like rewriting history to suit a new perspective. Certainly some of the older Trek films (and V especially) do show their age but that's how they were made and we should accept that. It was the same with Star Wars and ET, something got lost in the effort to update them and I wouldn't want to see that with Trek. But that's only my thoughts!

In ET they took guns out of the policemens hand when they did the bike sky ride, can you think what they would do with Star Trek, I wonder what they would change phasers to?

But I would like them to give ST V the effects at the end, as I am sure there were supposed to be "devil creatures" at the end?

This sounds like a cop-out by CBS/Paramount. Yes the 1960's effects ARE inferior, but that was the technology. I think they had this film on the plate, and used the it to "remaster" the TOS episodes with new effects to test the water for a TOS film. I feel this is the real reason CBS/Paramount did it.

Before the TMP-DC what about all the matte lines around everything?

I couldn't agree more.
