Default UFO the movie?

Who thinks the Gerry Anderson TV series UFO (70's) would make a good feature film.

While I loved this series growing up and, until recently, was able to watch this series in high definition on Voom until Dish pulled the plug, I believe the alien invasion / conspiracy genre has been done to death on both the big and small screen.

I don't think it would work now even as a movie. Someone would probably want to make it appeal to modern audiences anyway and film it like Cloverfield.

Well, what about an alien invasion movie were we DIDN'T win; If they're technologically advanced enough to travel vast distances in space in big enough numbers, what effect would our "pea-shooters" have on them - think about it - apart from the big nukes, or the bunker-buster type bombs, what DO we have?

Space fighters - nope - only a handful of (fragile) shuttles left over

Orbiting Battle Stations - nope - Just the delicate ISS, which can almost stop working when the toilet breaks down

Big lasers - nope - Boeing have been working on their 747-based laser for y-e-a-r-s

Chemical/Biological Weapons - what use, on a species with a totally different and unknown body chemistry

Breaking their 'codes' - nope - we can't even speak to our nearest equivalent earth creature (chimps), without years of study and teaching THEM to use sign language.

Basically, if the big event DID happen, the best we could do would be a scorched earth policy .... "we can't live here, so we'll make sure nothing else can either"

I agree that the concept has already been, well...

It would only serve to be a medium for better special effects/CG, which admittedly is often the only basis for a lot of sci-fi/fantasy movie productions, "Hey, let's take a stroy that we all know too well and put in better explosions and flashier effects. The kids will love it!"

... and it would be a great excuse to get a great looking actress into a purple wig and silver lame' uniform... (With, I hope, scenes of her changing and/or showering.)

Oh, and a movie where we didn't win? Check out the japanese film "Goke: Body Snatcher From Hell" it's been done. And the scortched Earth ending? The New Outer Limits did that one too... a story about people who had to keep pressing the button to make sure a doomsday weapon didn't go off, because aliens were approaching.

And what was up with the purple-haired chick, and those see-through uniforms on the guys? LOL, that wasn't Britain's view of the future, that was all going on at the time right in Picadilly.
