Unhappy Gene a jerk to the cast?

Apparently, according to William Shatner, Gene Roddenberry was a very selfish man who always insisted on taking money from the pockets of the cast and keeping it for himself. Here is the article from TrekToday. Read the part about Leonard Nimoy. I was really dumbfounded when reading that, in addition to how badly Gene treated Nimoy. Then, it just started to sound like something Shatner made up, but then again, he was there and we weren't. Hard to know the facts.

If Gene treated me like that, I wouldn't have agreed to do Star Trek for a further 25 years. And if I did, I would get what I wanted.

Shatner is a man who doesn't stop talking bad things about all other persons - except himself. On the Conán Show () he told us that he doesn't even remember the time of TOS.
Now he uses some stories about a dead man to promote his book. And this dead man created the very basics of Star Trek before Shatner came aboard.

Neither Gene nor Shat are the greatest men in the world.

Gene was a womanizer, read Grace Lee Whitney, Susan Sackett's Books.

Bill Shatner was disliked by the Cast, Fans etc. In fact only in the later years did Bill and Leonard Nimoy become good friends.

One thing I never liked about Bill, he never sent you an autograph when you wrote to him during the series 1966-69. All the others wrote back.

Today, other than his book, he refuses to sign anything in fear of it being sold on eBay.

If you dont need the people to get a job anymore, you can finally afford to throw with dirt.

Thats what I think about biographies in general. Dont we all have met bosses or colleages and coworkers in our lifetime, that we just didnt care so much about, but because we had to spend a lot of time with them, we learned to hate. Especially in the movie business, where you live in trailors and spend a life like a gypsy, together with all this people, all around the clock on a very limited space. Every little conflict can be taken as a huge thing in such an environment. But you cant say anything bad about the people, because you need the connections and the network for getting jobs in the future. So, you swallow your anger and it gets bigger and bigger over the years. Until you write a biography.

All storms in a waterglas. However, its not the first time I read Gene could act like a b+tch. Remember the story of Alexander Courage, who wrote the classical Star Trek main theme. Gene wrote some lyricst to it, that where impossible to sing. They used Courages theme without the lyrics, but Gene insisted on taking fifty percent of the money spend for the main theme, just for lyrics that never got used anyway. Courage tossed Roddenberry in front of court for that and lost.
