Often material which violates any such policies gets removed from play-ability rather quickly if the offended party makes the request.

That's the important part there. Often companies are willing to overlook something that's happening on a public but non-affiliated, non-competitive site until it is brought to their attention. Some companies feel that at the point where the production/story/whatever merits being brought to their attention, it merits a suit for copyright infringement.

I'm not going to have issues with links to clips. Please do not post links to full episodes, pirated movies etc. It's already posted no unauthorized material relating to this movie so that area is covered.

A couple of questions. First, just to clarify, you don't (at this time) want us to embed the videos in our posts, but you're okay with links to fan videos being posted? Second, what about links to legitimate full episodes? CBS.com has them all available and, on occassion, it's helpful to point a new poster toward them (I'm assuming that's not a problem, I'm just trying to make sure there's no room for question).

I think Red might have meant links to any episodes NOT on the authorized site which shows them (i.e. CBS legally 'broadcasts' TOS online)... as in don't link to someone's bootleg transfer of a VOY episode uploaded without permission.

In any case, yay Redshirt and Mods for continued timely attention to requests and board content in general! Great work and this board is better for it.

As I said, I assumed that was the case, however some people can be quite literal and if there is a warning "do not post a links to full episodes" some might make a fuss about a link to CBS.com despite the obvious fact that it's a company sanctioned site.

Again, OC Trekkie, I just feel that it would be kind of rotten for me to find a video wonderful and worth sharing and have that end up getting the creator punished. I care not whether YouTube gets its hand slapped, but if me pointing out a cool video causes problems for the video artist, then I don't want to do it. It's about protecting the fan artist, not about protecting YouTube.
