It actually might be a Jeffries tube juncture somewhere in the secondary hull--probably very close to engineering. While we generally think of Jeffries tubes as being small crawlspaces or ladderways, basically it was any kind of special access way or tunnel away from the main corridors. Some were big enough for one or more people to walk through without having to bend over...

Although there was one part of the Jeffries tube that Scotty should have bent over to avoid getting himself knocked out cold...

Why is everyone blaming shatner? He was an actor, not a set designer, so the 78 decks weren't his fault unless he asked for them.

I think the Trek people should Denounce Trek V as cannon and put it in the same category as Shatner's books.
