Default Second favorite universe?

Okay... Trek is our favorite place to be.

But.. suppose Trek had never existed? What series would have risen to the top to take it's place? Which TV series so facinates you, that you would consider it to be a close second to Trek?

With me, it's always been "The Prisoner" with Patrick McGoohan. A bizzare little series (I've heard of it being referred to as "Kafka Lite") it had some episodes that commented heavily on rigged elections, wiretapping, the ethics (or lack thereof) of torture, lying to the public about foreign wars, and how to resist those in power. (Obviously, it's become more relevant today than when it was made.)

What's your second favorite universe?

Well, with me Trek and Doctor Who compete for first place...

I have to say Doctor Who has the edge...

I totally agree with you~!!

“I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered! My life is my own.”
--No.6; Arrival

New No.2: “Good day, Number Six.”
No.6: “Number what?”
New No.2: “Six. For official purposes, everyone has a number. Yours is number 6.”
No.6: “I am not a number, I am a person.”
--Arrival

No.6: “I'm gonna escape and come back.”
No.2: “Escape and come back . . . ?”
No.6: “Ah, yes--escape, come back, wipe this place off the face of the earth, obliterate it . . . and you with it.”
--inside the Green Dome; Chimes of Big Ben

Of course this was the follow up series for Danger Man/Secret Agent, where McGoohan played the same charater.

The Prisoner. Definitely a classic! For me a more recent favorite would be Space: Above and Beyond.

Let's see, Star Trek followed by Stargate I guess. There doesn't seem to be a universe that comfortable and as convenient as the Star Trek universe. There, you could do anything that you wanted to like colonize a new planet, mate with someone from another species, travel the galaxy seeing lots of really cool things and if you get sick, a hypospray will do ya.

I guess I like the Stargate universe for a lot of the same reasons except every other alien species is trying to kill you. I just think that eventually the gate would become public knowledge and the tech will be available to us, the general public.

But, if I could live on the space station in the original Aliens vs. Predator FPS all by myself for a while with some of the amenities in Star Trek like a holodoc & holodeck, I'd go for it.

Well, I love The Prisoner, but for other favorite universe I wouldn't look to a TV show. Hands down it would be the Potterverse.

Not a TV series per se...but my second most favourite universe would have to be the Star Wars universe, never as near and dear to my heart as Trek, and suffering some serious setbacks because of the prequel trilogy, but still a fun place to hang out.

Hmmm... I'd have to say the 'Honorverse'...
