Ok. Thanks for filling me in. Then the day Archer dies is actually sort of non-cannon. Maybe "loose" cannon is a better way to label it. How old would that have made him when he died? About 120, I think?

I'm trying to understand this statement, but the highly questionable nature of your opinion somehow occludes it from existing in regular space-time; so I tend to forget what you've said quickly after reading it. Or maybe it's just denial that anyone could actually enjoy that episode.

Why is it some people need to be spoon-fed tie-ins, however poorly written, in order to accept something; simple because it's set earlier in the timeline than any previous series? Just accept ENT for what it was; a highly enjoyable take on the 22nd century Trek Universe... the fourth season being the best single seasons worth of episodes of any Trek in at least a decade.

I think that would be great, if the scifi channel did that with Enterprise, but there are the legal issues, it is Paramount and I don't think they're gonna give or lend the franchise to another studio but if it could happen, I think it could possibly bring Trek back to television in a new and interesting way.

They did it with Stargate. SG1 was originally a Showtime show for 2 seasons and then the next three were somewhere else and then the Scifi channel got it and the show lasted ten seasons! It's all under MGM though I think.

I think an ENT TV movie or miniseries, set during the Earth-Romulan War, would be a good thing. And I feel the final episode of ENT would've done fine as a regular episode in Season 3 or so (which it was supposed to be originally), but was a really terrible choice for the finale.

As for canon, let's not forget the USS Enterprise XCV-330 was on the wall of the refit 1701 (and in a bar in ENT), though not on the wall on the 1701-D or -E, and nobody's mentioned it in dialogue either... Also, Star Trek is a TV franchise, not organized religion

After it found its legs (after 2 ok seasons), I think it turned into a really fine example of traditional Trek sci-fi-adventure. Actually, now that I think about it, the first couple seasons of TNG had some pretty low points too.

Well try contacting Sci-Fi channel, they have the resources to bring it back. Also try CBS/Paramount. Heck a "grass roots" effort saved TOS in the 60's. Anything is possible.

What I liked about it was seeing how humanity dealt with space exploration in a time prior to the Prime Directive and the formation of the Federation. I also liked the friction between humans and vulcans (as well as the way the romulans had a hand in it). Cannon does not preclude a prior Enterprise. After all, starfleet has hundreds of ships and we haven't heard of most of those either. To assume that it can't exist just because no one had discussed it previously is just plain silly.

Should the Star Trek 11 Enterprise look like the one from TOS? Of course not! Film making technology has come a long way since 1966. The original ship (and the original Klingons) looked the way they did because that was all they had the budget and technology for in those days. No one in 1966 could have predicted LED screens and touchpads. Obviously, Abrams can't have the NCC-1701 looking less sophisticated than the NX-01. I say that Abrams should be allowed some creative license in making this film. At least he's making it. The alternative is that we would have nothing at all.

I think they should bring it back as a series or put straight to DVD as they are doing with Stargate SG1.

Not sure how they would reincarnate Trip though unless Phlox makes another clone.

No need to bring him back really. Just replace him. The show isn't dependent on any one character. I vote to bring it back as well.
