Don't get me wrong, I totally love the TNG era of Star Trek, I just feel that if this film is going to appeal to general audiences who don't know any better, it might be twice as successful.

A perfect example of the general public:

One Halloween many years ago, I dressed up as Picard during his years on Enterprise-D. One person saw me walking by with a friend and said, "Hey, it's Star Wars!" We both just laughed lol, but I realized how accustomed people were to Wars and how they associated it with Trek just because of the "Star". Earlier that evening, one of the moms at the kids house I went to said, "Hello Captain Kirk." I'm like, "Hey, nice to see you." I didn't even bother to correct them. But I figured that they didn't know any better. And these were people who, I'm sure knew what Star Trek was, but only the obvious parts about it. As for the person who said Star Wars...lol I never got over that. That cracked me up! lol
You know, i tried that whole positive thinking gig. It didn't work for me. But hey, good luck with that.

I will start with, "Hello Everyone!"Even though I am a skeptic about "Star Trek XI", I am also pushing for a new experience. I think "Star Trek" has its good and bad moments. People must keep in mind that Rodenberry is long gone. He has given us all somthing worth fighting for. "Star Trek XI" will not be a Rodenberry story, and from what I am reading it will have absolutely no continuality. According to the original series, the Romulans were never seen before. As a long time fans of the series, I think adding the Romulans into a prequel is foolish. I am so conflicted with how I feel. I hate the idea of prequels, but I like the idea of another Star Trek movie. Grrr...

Welcome, Ravenous!

I think you're feeling the same sort of dichotomy many fans are; indeed, it's exactly the same situation that occurred when 'Enterprise' first began being bantered about...

Personally, I like the Romulans, they are devious and conniving, the true villians, stirring up trouble whenever opportunity presents. Whereas the Klingons are mostly "bar-room brawlers" looking for a good fight and a booze-up afterwards.
