I'm not so much into team sports... I used to like the Rockies when I was still living in Denver, but that's faded. These days, I only like to get athletic with a partner in private... (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

As anyone walking into my office can tell, I root for the New York Yankees and whomever is playing the Boston Red Sucks! Baseball is a semi-religion in my household. It has such a rich history and it is just a shame that it has been tarnished so in the past few decades. I think that has been some of the appeal of the minor league teams lately. But we still love the game.

I think all of professional sports have been tarnished. There is no more team loyalty...only the almighty dollar. What happened to the days of the Larry Birds and Magic Johnsons? The time when a player would stick with his team and not jump ship just to make more money (do people believe Larry Bird did not have offers from other teams?). I knew sports were no longer sports and just "business as usual" when Joe Montana left the 49ers.

I need to add that when Joe left the 49ers I did not think it was the teams fault, Joe should have retired.

I have to agree. Much of the reason my enthusiasam faded for pro team sports is because it seems so much more about the money now, than it does the sport itself. The money... the drugs... the players vying for commercial contracts... the strikes, the occasional cheats... the payoffs... the players landing in jail for beating the crap out of their wives or girlfriends, the players up on rape charges....

No thanks... I think I'll stick to my preferred form of recreation/sport.

BTW... if anyone critisizes you for being a trekkie, you ming just remind them that, at least YOUR heroes haven't ended up in jail, or O.D.ed in a hospital somewhere. Nor were they paid to "throw" an episode....
