I used to be part of a group called IFGS, which would play out D&D and Whitewolf inspired storylines full scale, in real time. Basically live action role playing (LARP) where you actually put on the costume, grab the (foam) sword, and walk down the trail past various pre-set encounters. Or in the caser of a vampire "bar" game, we had built a mideval style tavern in a warehouse, and used it as the primary setting for various intriuges.

Generally, after you've played this way, sitting around the dinner table thorwing dice just seems... quaint.

I fail to comprehend your indignation, sir. I have simply made the logical deduction that you are a liar. (Spock)

Dungeons and Dragons, Chill, Champions, Call Of Cthulu, Space Opera, Traveller, OGRE and G.E.V., Car Wars, Paranoia, Chess, Checkers and 5-Card draw Poker. Most of the table top role playing i've done, took place many years ago. I'd love to do more, but groups are hard to find these days.

I miss D&D so much! Maybe I should put an ad on Craigslist?

I used to play Advanced 3rd Reich in school, but not anymore. Lots of Candyland nowadays!

A lot of board games are fun --Monopoly, I found out recently, can be a wonderful party game-- but what I really love is Scrabble. The real-world board game is great if there's anyone to play with, but I have this excellent PC version that I use most of the time; it's almost ten years old and came from a box of Cheerios, and somehow still runs perfectly. And besides that, it's just plain better than most of the versions for sale. It's very cool. =D
