Default Dog Fight

Out of The Original Crew or TNG which had the biggest dogs refering to their movies?

To me The Motion Picture, The Search for Spock and Final Frontier were not as good as the other movies with the original characters.

Only final frontier i would call a dog though. The other two movies were jusy not as good as the others.

TNG had one good film and the other three i classify and mega dogs.

Would that about sum up the general thought processes of intelligent trekkies everywhere or do others disagree?

Chris..

I feel Generations, while not the best TNG, had alot of unforfilled potential. i think if they had taken another year or so to work the script the film would have benefitted from it.

FC-Good action/adventure/semi-horror film. While not 100% solid Trek in format, it got alot of non fans into the theatres.

Insurrecton-Bad, bad script that was not even worthy of a TV episode. Alot of great actors in this film, but even they cannot save this goofy script and it's dumb ideas. A 20th century jet fighter control stick to navigate the ENT-E??? If it was that damn easy, why does it take 2 people usually?

Nemesis-Again, the sotry had soem ideas that could have been executed alot better. The film feels very fragmanted. too many subplots, too much emphassis on action, not enough on story.

I think the subplots worked well for television to pad out the hour but for a movie they needed proper scripts. not extended tv scripts.

True. FC still had the subplot which to me seemed a carry over from the series but i didn't mind it in that film.

True. They used the Brog, I felt, in a good way. Also they tried to fill in some Trek backstory, that really hadn't been explored.

TMP and Insurrection IMO are not very good.

I fail to comprehend your indignation, sir. I have simply made the logical deduction that you are a liar. (Spock)

You should watch TMP-DC, it really improves the film alot.

Insurection was a weak scripted film, which is a shame, since it had alot of good actors.

It, uh, doesn't -- not in the 24th century.

Hmm...For the TOS movies I'd have to say TFF. TMP was slow-paced and humorless, but at least it was trying for big ideas, if you know what I mean.
TFF was an effort to make Voyage Home Part 2, and it just didn't work. It's actually interesting to watch the "behind the scenes" features on the DVD (yes, I bought it, don't judge me!) to see the original ideas for TFF -- shame, it looks like it could have been good, if it hadn't been for the zillion things that went wrong during production.
It still has its good parts, though. I love the scene where McCoy has to watch his father die again -- they actually let De Kelley act for once.

For TNG, I'd have to say Nemesis. Insurrection was pretty inoffensive, and wouldn't have made a bad TV episode. but Nemesis mad me want to throw stuff at the TV screen.
And I hate, hate, hate it when they kill off the only character you bother to care about just to get an emotional reaction from the movie. They did it in Enterprise, too, and it's just lazy.
