I wouldn't be pissed, but I'd be worried in that all the post-production schedules were slightly adjusted for the 2009 release date. Michael Giacchino said yesterday that he still hasn't begun scoring the film. In effect, all post entities would have to rush even more to complete the film than they would have without the date change.

In any case, I think there's 0% chance of them moving the release back to 2008. None of the reasons why they moved the release have changed.

How many people will be getting a Birthday present instead, I wonder?

[Not me and that is for sure]

The Christmas release would have been four days before my birthday, but I'll take a better film five months later anytime.

I'm glad they moved it. My family is tolerant of my Trek fandom, but there would be problems if I wanted to spend Christmas in line for a theater in my costume. Also, my biggest Trekkie friend could not go to the Midnight Showing because she needs to be at Midnight Mass. So now we don't have to worry about that. I'll wait until May and hopefully the movie will be better for it. I'll totally have the "Star Trek flu" in May.
