From the teaser it looks like they are staying true to the orginal Enterprise design.
Star Trek-New Voyages/Phase II has proven other people can keep the spirt of the charaters very much alive.

So if you say "don't change the ship too much" what specifically about the ship would you be pissed if they changed?
I want it to look unmistakably like a Constitution Class Starship. Not a Constitution refit or an Ambasador class crossed with an Intrepid or anything like that. Original Constitution Class, want to put more lights on it? Fine, want to change the off white color a bit? Fine Want to change the design of the engines to 24th century stylings No, because then it's no longer Constitution class. The overall design elements should look the same as in TOS.

yes please....the problem is I'm struggling to find proper ways of defining what specific changes would make the Enterprise not the enterprise..I know it when I see it. As I suspect most of us do.

i understand your fears but... if you want no change... you have to ask for a movie with the original tos crew.

With all those new actors, its gonna be for sure different.

good day all!

I'm just really hoping for a true to canon story with really nice updated special effects. What I don't want to see is a bunch of JJ "Creative License" garbage.

Star Trek is what it is, you can't just re-write fake history.

Well, the reason I started this thread was so people could state in definitive terms what they were afraid J.J. and Co. would do to ruin this movie for them... Mine was the voice of the computer. It wouldn't be a make or break, but I would miss it greatly.

True! As the old adage goes: if we do not learn from fake history, we are doomed to revise it again.

Well what would ruin this movie is poor acting, or poor stroyline.

If the uniforms were completely diffrent, or the ship looked unrecogizable.
