lol, my old GM from United Artists screened the film and said at times he almost got sick from the flashing lights and other bright effects.

But there was alot of that in the old animated series. #2 is not a bad place for a film.

People also said the same of spending 45 million to bring back a sci-fi series from the 60's in 1979. Also that was during a time were the only movies with sequels were Star Wars, and Planet Of The Apes.

I could barely stand the cartoon, no wayyy I am watching this movie at the theatre. I might watch it one day if my nephew has it on dvd and he wants to watch it while at my house, otherwise....I'll pass. I wouldn't even rent it.

Zardoz is a Grandpa?! I learn something everyday. Congrats on the family.

It got awful reviews. While I'm willing to go see something with awful reviews (ie Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Indy, etc...) I'm just not into Speed Racer at all. So no. I'll save my 8 bucks and $14 for snacks +arranging a sitter, and go see Indy.

Latest box office re-calculated "Speed Racer" at $18.6 million, placing it in 3rd place behind "What Happens in Vegas."

While I'm wary of critic reviews, this site usually provides a good cross-section: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/speed_racer/

They should have just done a high quality animation and saved millions on production costs

I'm not sure they would have saved millions with HQ annimation, since most of the film is "green screen" animation anyhoo.

That's cool, I'll just go see it by myself...lol..

Animation is ALWAYS cheaper than green screen because Green Screen is SFX, animation is not.
