I have a knack for looking at the clock on the 11th minute at the top of the hour...

like, 2:11, 4:11, 6:11, 11:11, and so on.

Since we all have internal clocks of a sort, it might be that once you recognize those numbers on a clock as 'meaningful', your brain attmempts to 'keep track' of time and, in effect, alerts you to look at the clock again when that time comes around.

That you take note when it's those specific times, but when you look and it's 5:47, you tend not to remember it because it has no such meaning.

There's also the old adage that if you're at a party and there's a sudden lull in the conversation at large, check your watch... it will likely about 10 minutes after or 20 until the hour (or maybe it's the reverse, I forget). It's odd how often it happens though.

Or if it should suddenly read 00:00... and everyone around you seems frozen in place...
