Can we get a swirl of both karmas?

To the earlier post: the reason why there's so much confusion is that they haven't released any real info on the film yet... it's too early.

All will become clearer in time, just be patient.

One swirlled Krama coming up. But be aware your fate may take unexpexted turns, don't drive or operate heave machinery after taking Instant Krama.

I think I've got it nailed down!

Ok.

It's a prequel to the Original Series.
It's also a (partial) remake of the Original Series

All signs point to both a prequel and a remake/reboot. Perhaps the establishment of new Star Trek canon.

Others claiming that its a TOTAL reboot! (personally scares me it's like saying your years of watching 40+ trek years no longer count.)

Still others saying something in between..quotes from Orci, Kurtzman and Abrams flying about like so much bad phaser fire, and in the end what are we getting what are we seeing?

Nobody Knows!

from all these posts you end up with something like this.

It's a ...Star Trek TOS Prequel (everyone agrees on this part)

That is a true prequel whilst simultaneously being a TOTAL reboot that is respectful to cannon all the while somehow partially and or completely destroying it....

In the words of the Romulan Senator from Star Trek VI

"Mr President, I don't know what to believe!"
It's a start over.

And yet it will also be a prequel to TOS.
