Who says it's necessarily converted?

And you thought the torpedo in ST VI was modified with sensors by Spock and McCoy, they were making sure the poor Redshirt stuffed inside remained unconcious until launch.

Converted into a Kamikaze torpedo with a seat in it! Maybe that is why Kirk looks so mad ..... He missed his target and got stuck in the ice. If you ever get to pearl harbor you should check out the Kamikaze torpedo the Japanese were considering using in WWII, the inventor died in a sucessful test.

About the shuttlecrafts, any word on the names. Galileo should be one of them for sure.
