Question The best Die Hard!

Which one is the best? For me, it's all about Die Hard: With a Vengeance!

Sam Jackson did make that one pretty decent.

I enjoy VENGEANCE because of Sam Jackson's pairing with Willis, which broke up the repeated formula, but I find the first DH to be the best because it had the better villain (thanks to good writing and Alan Rickman). The fact that they tried to recreate Hans with his brother pretty much underscores how the villain makes DH work.

I enjoyed LIVE FREE much more than I thought I would and rank it narrowly behind VENGEANCE. DH2 lags far behind them all... terrible villain, weakest film.

I thought the third film was great for many reasons. One reason that sticks out of my mind is the fact that it actually took place in New York! The official home of John McClane!

I gotta say the original, I just can't get enough of Alan Rickman in that movie, he's a great villain.

Hans: This time John Wayne does not walk off into the sunset with Grace Kelly.

McClane: That was Gary Cooper, asshole!

Actually I looked up something about the first Die Hard, it was shot in 70mm, that's large format!

Yeah... I agree the original was the best... Besides all that is the way they let Al flesh out as a character of his own. Gotta love the way he tosses aside his own demons at the end of the movie to take out Karl.

Okay... here's where I rant a bit. Go out to your local used bookstore (the one with the really big science fiction section) and go to the Murray Leinster section of the shelf. See if they have a copy of "Checkpoint Lambada" Buy it. Read it. Tell me, if you can, that the original Die Hard wasn't a rip off of this novel, written in 1962!

I liked Die Hard, but the Leinster estate should have sued them for every penny they had.

The second Die Hard is actually my favorite, since Stapleton Airport in Denver was recently shut down, to make way for the soon to open DIA, the makers of DH2 used it as the airport in that film. Whenever I pop it in, I notice a few friends in the background, who were extras during the shoot.
