I happen to agree. Trek needs to bring homosexuality out there. The closest we've come is seeing the guy in the skirt in Encounter at Farpoint. Also, the Dax/Kahn kissing scene in DS9.

Well...I have to say I just tried the search function and it kept telling me that a) the word Gay is too short so won't be found {what?} and b) that I need more than 4 words in my search {what?}...so I guess I can't blame nody for starting a new thread.

And...you know...sometimes it's good to just start the conversation again. Everyone who was in the earlier conversations has learned things (I'm sure a few people learned "don't be a jerk" in the last round) and the new people bring new views and ideas. Given that all of those threads (and, yes...I mean ALL...this is not a new topic by any means, it's been hashed pretty much since the begining from what I can see) are long, I doubt the admins would really want to merge a new thread into one of them ("hey...this thread is 475 posts...let's merge the new thread here!") so maybe we should take another stab at it? Just my thought.

IMO: If a character happens to be gay then so be it... As long as he or she serves the story. That's fine... But if Positive Gay Content means finding a way to tell us this character is gay every five minutes then it's not appropriate for Star Trek.

Look at the first interracial kiss. Star Trek didn't make a big thing of it they just showed it... (Even if it was forced on them.)

Women officers... They just had them... although it did take too long for us to see a woman Captain, (And hang NBC for NOT giving Uhura the Conn in "Catspaw" !) the only one who made an issue of it was Janice Lester and her complaint doesn't hold up when you consider that she was as mad as Ron Tracey or Captain Garth.

Black officers and Captains? Heck They Had former Starship Captain Commodore Stone in Court Martial.. No big deal he was just there.

In Star Trek, equality is about reaching the point where the question is irrelevant.
