Dont know how many of u know that the producers were thinking about making shran a member of archer's crew.it will had been interesting to see how they would of done it,would jeffrey combs be the show's 8th star or would they kill sato or mayweather off or transferred 1 to make way for shran?.

I could see Shran more easily becoming a memeber of the Earth Allience, and commanding one of it's ships in the Earth/Romulan war.
I think, if what you say had come to pass, Combs would have been the 8th star. Could see him as an Starfleet advisor, or guest of Starfleet, with honorary equivilant rank.

I could not see Shran, proud and forceful as a subordnate of Archer...A temporary Ambassordor role...perhaps...

How about Captain of Challenger, NX-03?

I'm not sure Star Fleet would go for it.
But even more so...Why trade down tech? Well...Kirk did say..."A ship a is ship"

The Andorian ships were more advanced in some ways, but less in others. Remember the episode "Andorian Incident" where Shran is lookinf for the Vulcan Spy equipment at P'Jem? Well, in that episode Archer asks if the Andorians have transporter technology and T'Pol answers him "no". |

I could see him commanding his own starfleet ship. In any case, I would have loved seeing Shran as a regular on the show. He was by far my favorite non regular caracter.

I wouldn't have minded Shran becoming a more regular character but not as an Enterprise crew member - it worked best when they were equals (both captains).

I didn't know the Andorians were minus transporter tech. Considering the Andorians hostile nature I'm sure it would have been a position similar to T'pol's I don't see Shran accepting that posititon. this other guy is correct...it's more intresting with them in the dynamic of equals.

IIRC, Shran no longer had a ship leading up to ENT's series finale. It had been destroyed by the Romulans in an earlier episode. If the Andorian Imperial Guard was slow or reluctant to give Shran command of another ship, I could see Shran joining the NX-01 crew at Archer's request. If ENT continued with a fifth season, it would still be an Earth-based Starfleet because I doubt "These Are The Voyages" would have been made otherwise. I don't see the Starfleet of that time giving command of one of its ships to a member of alien race they only first encountered a few years ago...
What position could Shran have had aboard NX-01 then? Pretty much every major position was already filled. Perhaps if T'Pol stepped down from being first officer, but I just don't see that happening since it would be akin to a demotion of the character. Maybe Shran would be security advisor--a position that would occasionally put him at odds with Reed as his duties as chief munitions officer would sometimes overlap. Shran as an ambassador, eh, maybe--but he seemed awfully willing to settle disputes with a disruptor, IMO...
