Angry Orphan Works(anti-artist, pro-corp) Legislation!!!

In layman's terms, what this bill does is it takes all art, and makes it so that ALL of it must be paid for to register. If it's not registered, with a commercial group, btw... then anyone can take your name off and use it without fear of repercussion.

This bill was written by law students in a university, and does NOTHING for the artist. it works entirely for the corporation.

YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS because you are about to lose your copyright protection. Every sketch, every photo...Every one(all over the world) of you needs to stand up and be heard in order to protect what we have all created.

Please forward this information to every creative person and group you know.

GAWD!!!! @%#&!

All over the world? Where is this bill being introduced? How can they quell copywrite protection? And who created this bill?

See if this thing passes in America... something similar failed to pass in 2006 but they are trying again, trying to get it passed before the summer starts. American corporations pretty much has become global corporations now. They have their fingers everywhere nothing is there to stop them from just snagging anything they find on the internet. Who wants to fight their army of lawyers to prove that you are the creator of that photo... that painting... that design even if you did sign it...and then they airbrushed the signing or watermark off. Disney is powerful and will fight tooth and nail to prevent anyone else from using their stuff for profit... but what about the rest of us who can't afford the lawyers??

This iso nly the begining of trying to reign in the "Wild West" that is the internet. Shame nobody has really come up with a defintive legal way to have a water tight copyright online.

The actual proposal link is here, its not a bill yet... I know its dense reading but if you call yourself an artist this concerns you greatly and the details are troubling:

4. The briefing included the following companies: Copyright Clearance Center, DigiMarc, Google, InfoFlows, PicScout, and PLUS. Audible Magic and Corbis could not attend but contributed materials.

If you feel passionately, you should get out there and organize and lobby fellow artists!

Step 3: Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women.
