Question Sisko's uniform (Season's 5 to 7)

Did anyone notice how big Sisko's uniform got in the later season's of the show? At first, I figured since Sisko was a pretty big man, his suit probably was meant for his size. But, if you look at Worf's uniform, or the others, the gray on the top isn't nearly as large or thick as Sisko's. I've always wondered that. Maybe it was to give him bigger authority. Because if you realize that in the first seasons, his uniform was identical to the others. Yet here...just a little too much gray.

Sisko was wearing the three-piece captain's variant that Picard also wore in the movies. It's actually a jacket with a separate vest underneath.

Yep, all the time. But when Sisko actually first started wearing it, the costumer placed his commbadge in the upper greyish-purple area, but that mistake was corrected shortly afterwards.

Truthfully, though, all uniforms from TNG onwards have been said to have "invisible zippers," that would enable them to magically go from one-piece uniforms to two-piece uniforms (when a story required it, that is), but the captain's uniforms for Sisko and Picard were meant to be three-piece* from the start.

*Not counting the branch-colored undershirts, of course.

It's not about the two piece uniforms, Sisko's uniform was just bigger period. I mean, if you look closely, even the gray area on Picards uniforn doesn't go as low as Sisko's.

That's because Avery Brooks is bigger than Patrick Stewart, so that's to be expected. But otherwise, the cut of the uniform is the same--the purplish-gray yoke for captain's uniforms are lower than that of the regular uniform because it's a jacket. Stewart's yoke is bigger than that of Burton's and Spiner's, but looks almost about the same for Frakes and Dorn because they're also bigger than Stewart.

Broad shoulders signify "authority", I suppose.

Come to think of it, I didn't see any other characters wearing that vest either.

Luther Sloan from Section 31 wore the captain's vest when he arrived under false pretenses on DS9 as a Starfleet deputy director (his rank insignia was similar to that of a captain's, but with a gold bar directly underneath the pips).

I've notice the uniform difference too...it was ackward looking.
Often costumes are reused...that may explain the weird variance that often occur.
