Actually I prefer both Gabriel and Collins outside of Genesis, the former over the latter.

Ahhh, ringa-ding-ding indeed!

Gabriel for me especially the bizarre stuff like Passion Sources, which was (something like) the sound track to Scorcese's Last Temptation of Christ. Sorta.

Do you know if the Genesis Phil Collins is/was the same Phil Collins who drummed with the 80's fusion group Brand X?

Yeah, same drummer. I don't remember how many albums he played on though, two or three maybe.

I liked Peter Gabriel's Ovo too, interesting music, alot similar to Passion. Tony Banks, the keyboard player in Genesis has done some interesting solo stuff too, mostly very electronic instrumental stuff, sort of similar to that last concert clip I posted at the beginning of the thread.

Brand X was brilliant! Wish I could've seen them live.

yeah definitely, also Hate Zone and Why Should I Lend You Mine on Morrocan Role! Man, talk about music you can really dance to! Weather Report were really great too, don't think Collins ever played with them though. Chester Thompson did though, Genesis brought him in for live performances when Collins started to take over for Gabriel on the vocals.

I also wondered why the music of Genesis and the music of Collins became pretty much the same by the late 80's. Sems like collins tried to make his solo stuff sound like Genesis of the era.

Weather Report! Faves of mine as well. Joseph Zawinul died recently. And Jaco Pastorious has been long gone- sad and tragic end for him.

You have great taste in music Livingston.
