does anyone remember anything about his death.. im not sure i was even alive when it happened

I believe it was stomach cancer.

I remember reading that as his wife was dying, he had his bed pushed up near hers so they could hold hands at night.

I believe Majel Barrett Roddenberry was quoted at the time stating Mr. Kelley's death was the biggest loss to Star trek after her husband; or words to that effect. A sentiment I can readily agree with.

Hey, i was eight too. However, only my current 16 year old self can appreciate the loss.
