If you had to choose between the two, which would you choose?

After I lose some weight, I plan to join the Air Force Reserve. It looks like you chose construction.

Is that what you planned after you left Alltel Wireless?

lol, well not really.
After sitting at home for over a month trying to find a job, I started thinking of what I could do. I am too old to join Air force: Active Duty(full time), but I am young enough to join Air Force Reserve. And it is something I have been thinking about in the back of my head for a few years. Now I just have to get a full time job, and lose some weight... |

I prefer to build things, rather than destroy them.

From what I have heard, you learn so much more in the military (depending on the branch you serve) that you can take and use in a later job and further your career. Not saying you don't learn anything in construction but I think with the diverse jobs in the military, there is a better opportunity to learn more.

My Grandfather worked in construction all his life. It was terribly hard, backbreaking work, but back in that day, the money he got paid was damn good and we never went hungry. We never got rich either, and the hard labor took it's toll on Grandpa, may God rest his soul. I joined the military, and it was tough, but i got through my initial hitch and went back out into the civilian workforce. I wish i had stayed in now. I would have been retired at 38 or 40 with a good pension and medical and dental benefits and still be able to hold a job and make even more money. If you do decide to go the military route, my advice would be to stick with it. Just don't expect it to be a cakewalk.
