Default Space: 1999, PHASE II, and retro Sci-Fi of the 1970's

I'm sure someone along the way has also thought of this, but although we didn't get a new Star Trek series in the 1970's, we DID get a nifty little Sci-Fi TV show titled SPACE: 1999, considered by many to be the spiritual sequel to STAR TREK. Although not necessarily set on a starship, the series had an intrepid crew of explorers much like STAR TREK, and featured many of the philosophical, thought-provoking types of stories that had made STAR TREK so special. Add to that the similarity between SPACE: 1999 and STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE in the aspect of costumes, sets and props, and you have an idea, however vague, of what PHASE II would have been. Simply put Kirk and crew in the place of the SPACE: 1999 cast, and change the setting from Moonbase Alpha to the Enterprise, and ta-da! You have, in essence, PHASE II.

Well the whole reason Martin Landau and Barbra Bain (Original Mission Impossible, not the movies)did Space 1999 was becasue Mission was filmed next to Star Trek, and they allways wanted to be on Trek.

My Dad and I used to have a whole ritual over watching Space-1999. We'd get rid of Mom and eat a whole bunch of chips and candy. Then we'd sing "You're so Bain" the first time Barbara Bain came on the screen. I'd kind of forgotten all about that! Thank you for stirring up those memories!
I still get creeped out when I think about that alien that sucked everyone up like a giant vacuum cleaner. Icky.

Loved Space, though it was never as good without Victor Bergman.

Here's a trivia question: Name a person who acted in all three, "Star Trek," "Space:1999," and "Mission:Impossible." (Obviously a guest, not one of the cast)

Hmmm Nimoy was on Mission for a few season as "Paris".

Was it William Campbell? Or Micheal Ansaria?

As far as I know Nimoy was never on "Space." Campbell and Ansara weren't either. Good guesses though!

So anybody remember the Logan's Run TV show, and Beyond Westworld the TV series?

Definitely LR, didn't know about Beyond Westworld. Was it any good?

(And clue to trivia question: the answer's a she.)

Was it Mariette Hartley? I know she did Trek and MI.

I have all SIX episodes of beyond Westorld on DVD, it was a late 70's attempt to try and cash in on Westworld, no not horrid, but not classic either. Rene Auberjonois (Odo) is a guest star, a wild haired rocker named Power!
