Yeah, Space: 1999 did seem like it was acid-trippin' a lot in hindsight. The concept seemed cool when I was a kid, but I later realized how outlandish it was--the Moon being blasted out of Earth orbit from its dark side (without blowing apart or hitting Earth) and falling through a conveniently placed nearby wormhole into the deepest regions of space.

But as a kid, it was more about the cool visuals to me, which I think still hold up pretty well today. Visually, I think it was more akin to 2001: A Space Odyssey in the sense that the ships and other models were pretty realistic-looking...

I'd LOVE to get Six Million Dollar Man on DVD in this country (US)!! I still rember my Steve Austin doll!!

Joan Collins???!! No way!!!

Way. Ding, Zardoz! As far as I know Joan Collins is the only person to appear in both Star Trek and Space:1999.

Do you mean the Steve Austin doll with the bionic eye we could look through? Those were great!

Was Joan on MI too? Don't remember her being on it. Old Joan took any acting gig that came her way in the 60's and 70's. Who could forget her major film Empire Of The Ants??!~

The Speed Racer movie looks like it would be great on a double bill with the "Thunderbirds" movie from a couple years back... very colorful, like Spy Kids 1,2,&3...

Oh, how about "Fantastic Journey?" With Roddy McDowell, Jarred Martin and Ike Einsamann? A group of people disappear into the Bermuda Triangle, and team up with people from other times/worlds, and begin working their way through various "zones" trying to find ways back to their own homes...

There was also a cool pilot, I'm not sure if it ever went to series or not, of something called "Otherworld" which was about a family in much the same situation, only trapped in a fascist, totaltarian society on the other side of an Egyptian pyramid "doorway."

Or how about "The Stranger" about an astronaut who ends up on a facist, alternate world...

Or the Starlost, about two kids on the run from an Amish biosphere aboard a huge space ark...

Or "The Imortal" about a guy who is immortal, on the run from.... Oh, hell, you get the idea...

Ever notice how many shows have people on the run from some kind of nazi-like society, or else are some kind of science fiction version of "The Fugative?" Just shows a lack of imagination on the parts of the producers...
