Another good guess! Sadly no.
![]() Another clue, think about where Space:1999 was filmed. Not the North American side of the pond. Last edited by dougkeenan : 04-02-2008 at 04:10 PM. Reason: relativity |

Yes, I never got to see much Space 1999. My folks weren't sci-fi freaks like me so I had to be satisfied with saturday morning presentations of Star Trek TAS, Dr. Who and if I was lucky a Godzilla movie on "Creature Features". After school it was waiting for Mom's soaps to end so I could catch Speed Racer and Starblazers if I was lucky. Then Star Wars came out and my folks realized they had a sci-fi geek on their hands and had no choice. At least I wasn't on drugs. lol
With the advent of the video boom I got to see alot of the shows I missed. UFO... who can't love those girls with the purple hair? Gerry Anderson is a model making genius.

I was more into Doctor Who, The Six Million Dollar Man, the original Battlestar Galactica, and Buck Rogers during the '70s. But Space: 1999 was also a favorite of mine and I still have a model of one of the Eagle spacetransporters on my desk today.

But as a kid, it was more about the cool visuals to me, which I think still hold up pretty well today. Visually, I think it was more akin to 2001: A Space Odyssey in the sense that the ships and other models were pretty realistic-looking...
