Who was better: Joel or Mike?

I'm a purist, I prefer Joel - he was more natural, more organic in his performance. Mike seemed like he was smirking because he was on TV half the time. Oddly enough it was THAT which broke the 4th wall for me. But I will give Mike credit, he's keeping it alive at rifftrax and doing a damn fine job too. The Star Trek 6 and Generations commentaries are awesome.

I totally dug MST and was sorry to see it go. I won't say I prefer Mike over Joel as hosts, but I think the show and characters got more rounded and cohesive in Mike's era... just as many shows take time to get into their creative groove, as it were.

I'm glad they're on DVD sets. "The Screaming Skull" remains one of my favorites.

Which pilot the local show from LA in the late 80's, or the comedy central one?

Absolutely loved MST3K!!!!! Whatever happened, seems just like yesterday. My favorite was when they were showing one of the old Japanese Monster movies,(Gamera-the turtle I think), and the monster swallowed some guy plucked out of a fishing boat- and one of the robots joked "MMMM, a MANwhich!" I was rolling on the floor!
