Imdb has a few of the original main cast from the original listed including Harrison Ford as Hans Solo for VII.

That's interesting, I know there has been a lot of speculation about that.

IMDB is not a reliable source this far in advance.

I agree, EC. Imdb is far from a reliable source.
If I may, EC, here's an advantage I see about Keenser in the films...granted its a seemingly negligible one, but a potential advantage in the future. Keenser is small. Keenser is agile. Keenser could come in handy in reaching places on the Enterprise that even an average sized human (or other alien) character might have a rough time getting to....very handy in an emergency. Besides, if JJ is a little more receptive to feedback than, oh, say, George Lucas, JJ might give those folks what they're looking for...perhaps a death to fell Keenser, but a heroic death, one that allows him to help save the day. As long as it's not done in a cheesy way, the scene could be pretty compelling, even for those who never cared for the little guy. I'm sure that even in such a scene, many who bemoan Keenser will simply scream joyously for his demise, completely overlooking the fact that he helped save the Enterprise, or the galaxy depending on the scenario. That's their loss for not considering the overall picture.

I could see that. It will be interesting to see what route they go with Episode VII. Recast, original actors de-aged like Jeff Bridges in Tron: Legacy, or matching up the timeline to the age of the original actors, or just completely new characters. Jar Jar detracted from his movies, Keenser was just sort of there.

He's just a little light relief. There's not much to over-analyse except what the problem is with a character there for a dash of humour.
