To further explore that story weakens it. They should leave it alone. The entire point is that the society is dead, but lives on now in Picard. To introduce more probes, and more aliens or whatever just dilutes a story that works perfectly on it's own. Fanwankery at it's finest.

I agree, it is not a story that warrants any continuation and the second life that Picard lead is not something that you can incorporate into the character as it is just too big. Either you take it seriously and let Picard forever be virtually two guys or you ignore it.
As I say all the entire time, continuity obsession is not overcome with ST09

No film will ever overcome fanwank in other media Trek avenues, but certainly there's the option to ignore such stuff as this to those who are happy to read it. That's what I'll be doing with it.

Plus, the artwork does look horrid.

Is quite bizarre, there are plenty of good story threads that could have been continued for a project like this, why on Earth choose The Inner Light?
