I know. And I know how great with visuals Abrams always is. And he knows how to tease and put out great marketing. The advertising and trailers for the last film were excellent and they will be for the sequel as well.

That's why I'm not too concerned that the trailer is giving us lots of visual eye popping moments. That's the kind of attention grabbing elements I would expect them to use in giving people something to go 'wow' at. The advertising for (at least) the TNG movies also made sure that action shots and explosions were included in them as well. I still remember going 'WTF' when the Generations trailer gave away the destruction of the D - because that was that film's big visual effects money shot.

But in fairness, I also know great advertising doesn't mean great film. But I do want to see it like..........now!

Yeah, it's strange how it feels like the movie is further off now that I saw the trailer than it did a month ago when I had not!

Second, like The Dark Knight Rises and like the previous movie this will be an action movie with a mediocre story. If you expect nothing else you will probably leave the theatre satisfied. If you expect a Star Trek movie, i.e. a sci-fi movie with a decent story, you will probably be disappointed.

This is exactly how I see it. I am keeping my expectations at fun threshold only, which I am fairly confident it will fufill. I do not expect a fabulous story/plot, but I can deal.

For a time, I was actually more psyched by the dubious "what have we here?" news of Disney's pending SW sequels.

I'm glad STID has finally popped back into existence and put things into focus once more.

I don't know what to make of that Star Wars news. That seems like it could go either way to me.
