Default Excelsior That Almost Was..

Enjoy...This was an actual model built for Excelcior back during Trek III. This did appear breifly as one of the damaged ships in "Best Of Both Worlds" TNG.

Does the cup come free with the ship? lol :P

Naw, but I'm not particulalrly fond of this design. Very creative, however just isn't my cup of tea. Well, the cup could be, lol! But yeah, I mean imagine if the turbolifts weren't working? That would be a long crawl to the warp nacelles or engineering.

I tend to agree with you, so did Nimoy/Paramount appearently.

The cup does indeed come free with the ship.

Indeed it did and that means it is a canon star trek ship.

To be honest, I thought it was a design that Zardoz came up with. Very creative, but after hearing about it being in actual Trek, a little dissapointing.

I like the fact that it's totally different than the other starship designs we saw. Although I like the design of the actual Excelsior, I thought it was too similar to the Enterprise after the unique shape of the Reliant in the previous film. This looks more like, "The Great Experiment."

Yeah, but you can't compare that mid-section to the Reliant or the Stargazer, however both would equal to that ship had they been put together along with an extended hull.

Again, I assume this was the reason this design was rejected. There is another rejected design for Excelcior, but cannot find a pic online for it.
